You may not even realise that Gloucestershire has a coast line at all, but the coast of Gloucestershire covers the area north of Bristol to the Severn Bridge until Wales is reached. Being beside the mighty Severn, it is a coast of mud flats and marshes rather than cliffs and beaches, but still one that has a lot of interest. Transport links dominate, with the two road bridges and the unseen Severn Tunnel and if you walk the coast you will walk across the original Severn bridge, offering a high-level view over the swirling waters of the Severn far below.

Aust to Severn Tunnel Junction
Aust to Severn Tunnel Junction
This walk takes in the first part of the Wales Coast Path and crosses from England on the spectacular Severn Bridge. River crossings dominate the rest of the walk as the path goes around the edge of some light industry and then back to the banks of the Severn to pass the more recent Second Severn Crossing. The walk then follows the banks of the river beside marshland to end at Severn Tunnel Junction station where the rail line emerges from the Severn tunnel, the third of the crossings.
Aust to Pill
Aust to Pill
This walk follows the coast and banks of the Severn as much as possible from the Severn View services on the M48 at Aust south to the River Avon. Most of the walk offers beautiful views over the Severn, although a few miles part of the walk are through an industrial area, which is less pleasant. Near the end of the walk, we cross the M5 motorway and the River Avon to finish in the village of Pill.
